Around the Community
The Leatherhead area consists of several communities. There
is the town centre itself and the vibrant villages of Ashtead,
Fetcham and Bookham. Each has a distinct character and sense
of community, with its own residents' association, community
organisations and facilities. Although Leatherhead provides
the largest and most diverse set of shops and services,
all of the villages have their own thriving commercial centres
containing a mixture of specialist shops and some bigger,
national retailers. However, they still retain their small,
village character making them a pleasure to visit.
Each has its own medieval church and around it a heritage
of buildings worthy of the status of Conservation Area.
All of the villages are worthy of a visit in their own right.
Exploration can combine the historic centres with lovely
walking routes into the countryside close by.
On the outskirts of the town Leatherhead has it's very own wildlife sanctuary, Wildlife Aid, which takes in injured and orphaned wildlife for recuperation and rehabilitation
This section of the web site provides an introduction to
those communities and what can be found in them. |
